openmosix for Debian -------------------- $OPENMOSIX_NODE in /etc/default/openmosix now decides if the current node should function as a openmosix node or not. This is useful, for instance, to run a openmosix enabled kernel, but not run openmosix services at all. Read the openmosix(7) manpage and the README in /usr/share/doc/openmosix for setting up openmosix. Refer to the included FAQ for more info. The FAQ is the one I got from http://www.openmosix.org. However, it might be very much out of date. It is generally a good idea to have an arp daemon (available as the arpd package) in a openmosix cluster, if there are more than 5 machines, and they join/leave the cluster at different times. This prevents a lot of arp activity, which can slow down the network. Not to mention, a openmosix cluster should never be on an open network, because it can be highly insecure. --> Note, update-cluster support might be flakey, and the script is not all that robust, and neither is update-cluster. But if it works, its great, otherwise, dpkg --purge update-cluster. ;-) Also, Barak Pearlmutter's help was invaluable throughout the whole packaging phase, and lots of other small bugreports that he sent after I could get the initial packaging done. All the help from other folks on debian-beowulf was invaluable too.. :-) -- Previous Maintainer: Viral Shah , Sun, 19 Aug 2001 10:32:15 +0530 Current Maintainer: Cristiano De Michele
