You can visualize phonon displacement patterns by arrows (forces).
In doing that you pretend your "phonons" are forces and construct an
appropriate XSF file ( <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://www.xcrysden.org/doc/XSF.html#__toc__5">http://www.xcrysden.org/doc/XSF.html#__toc__5</a> ).
Then visualize them via Display->Foces menu.
