I suspect it may be the problem of the program used to convert image
into PNG format; the default that xcrysden uses is the ImageMagick's
convert program. Check for the xcrysden startup output, line looking as:
Package ImageMagick's convert: /usr/bin/convert
To verify if this is the case save the image in PPM format; this is
native format that xcrysden uses. If the PPM saved figure is OK, then
the hypothesis is correct.
