can you read other restart files?
did you use the make.sys file provided in the distribution?

this is most likely an issue with the ibm compilers. i've been through
that very recently on an IBM p690 AIX machine. you error looks very
similar, but is not quite the same. so it would be interesting to know,
how you compiled it.
